"What do you have?"

Arthur Ashe once said: "Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can". I reckon he was a pretty wise man.
It's so easy to focus on the things that you want, rather than on what you already have. I felt discouraged and unsatisfied with certain things in my life for numerous reasons and the Holy Spirit said this to me: "Use what you have".

I didn't understand what that meant, but I was reminded of a story in the Bible about a certain widow. Her story is found in 2 Kings 4:1-7. This woman had just lost her husband & was scared that a creditor would turn her two sons into slaves because she had owed him some money. She asked prophet Elisha for help and he asked her a few questions. "What should I do for you?" "What do you have in your house?". That sounds like easy questions right? But how often do we fail to see what we have and we choose to focus on the things we don't have?

The woman's answer to Elisha's questions was that all she had was a bit of oil. He told her to go borrow jars from her neighbors and fill them up with the oil. The woman obeyed, sold the oil and managed to pay the creditor.

The whole point that I'm trying to make here which is what I was taught today is that YOU ALREADY HAVE WHAT YOU NEED, USE WHAT YOU HAVE. The only thing that the woman borrowed was the jars, not the oil and the oil was what she needed to pay her debt. She didn't need to borrow R100000 from her neighbors, she already had the resource (oil) but she couldn't see its value.

You already have what you need, so use what you have. Stop having a poor mindset. If you want to lose weight but don't have any money to go to the gym then use what you have. Jog around the street or use bottles as weights. Use what you have! If you want to start a baking business but you don't have a cookie cutter, then use a glass to cut the dough. Use what you have! You don't need to pay lots of money for seminars in order to learn skills, use the internet to your disposal. You are not in lack, you just haven't realized what you have.
