Do you truly love Him?

One of the things that I do often that others consider "deep" is that I question myself. I question my motives. A recent question that I asked myself whilst listening to a song was this: "Do you truly love Him?" "Do you love Jesus?" I pondered the question for a while ...


The reason for my pondering was not that I do not love Jesus, but it was simply because I did not want to lie to myself. We can be deceived into thinking that we truly love Jesus merely because of the scriptures we post on social media (which anyone can do) or because of our church attendance. There's nothing wrong with doing any of those things, but they are just not a good indication of whether or not someone loves Jesus.
         

"He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth Me: and he that loveth Me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest Myself to him"- John 14:21 (KJV)                       


 Whether or not we truly love Jesus is shown by our obedience to Him. An indication of your love for Jesus is by you simply obeying Him. Always remember that there is nothing that you can do in order for Him to love you less or more. He has already loved you first. He has shown His love for all of us when He was crucified on the cross at Calvary.

What do you do when you're discouraged?

How do you react when you are discouraged or hurt? What is your response towards God? Do you suddenly turn into a bitter and rebellious person? What do you do in that moment of despair? One of the things that I started to notice about myself at the end of last year was that I tend to shut down when I'm discouraged. I'm talking about doing any other thing but pray. The Holy Spirit has helped me and is still helping (till this day) regarding that and I'm learning that I cannot allow my emotions to rule over me. I cannot allow my circumstances to distort my image of Who God is, because whether or not things go my way; He never changes. He is still good, still merciful and He still loves me regardless.  Being a Christian does not make one an emotionless being, but it does mean that we handle our emotions differently.
